China's Geely Automobile Lacks Managers

What do large multinationals have that Chinese companies do NOT have?  Managers.

The largest private car maker in China, Geely Automobile, hired a former executive of South Korea's Daewoo to ready its cars for the international market.

According to a Geely official, there is a "shortage of engineers and R&D managers, so we'll need more overseas staff. Chinese engineers are lagging in experience and knowledge."

You can't turn out managers in school. There is no quick training course to be a leader and director. An MBA does not a manager make. The degree just means they went to school.

The result is, China must dip into the same talent pool that the multinationals dip into. And, the managers cost more! Good news for the worker?
