几年前，网友IwannaKnow在《美语世界》论坛贴了《听歌学英语》系列，《Red River Valley 》《红河谷》就是他贴的其中的一首，当时我还是第一听到这首歌曲的英语版本，当那动听的旋律一响起，我感觉颇为亲切，因为我对《红河谷》的中文版本颇为熟悉。早先的音频链接早已失效了，今天我上传了Slim Whitman演唱的英语版本，Slim Whitman是美国的乡村歌手和作曲家，他以约德尔唱法闻名，以他独特的迷人的音色唱出了离别的惆怅，莫忘故乡的深情。Slim Whitman演唱的歌曲有"Rose Marie", "Indian Love Call" 和 "Secret Love"等。而中文版的《红河谷》，我选择了云雀合唱团演唱版本，他们那和谐的天籁童声，让我想起青春岁月的纯真美好。

网友IwannaKnow还同时贴了中文版的《雅拉玛》，他说这首歌曲是志愿到西班牙反抗法西斯的国际纵队英美士兵，利用加拿大民歌《红河谷》的曲调编的一首小调，这些国际主义战士经历了惨烈的雅拉玛战役，很多人壮烈牺牲。不久，部分士兵从西班牙辗转来到中国，支援中国人民的抗战，于是，从那时起，《雅拉玛》就在华夏大地流传开来，成为小学音乐课堂上的保留曲目，经久不衰。读了网友IwannaKnow关于《雅拉玛》歌曲的介绍，让我想起了海明威的作品《For Whom the Bell Tolls》。
