Song: Take Me Home Country Roads
Artist: John Denver

Almost heaven west virginia
Blue ridge mountains shenandoah river
Life is old there older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin like a breeze

All my memories gather round her
Miners lady stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty painted on the sky
Misty taste of moon shine
Tear drops in my eyes

I hear her voice in the morning hours she calls me
Radio reminds me of my home far away
Driving down the road
I get a feeling that I should have been home yesterday

Country roads take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia mountain mamma
Take me home country roads

John Denver was an American Country Music, folk singer-songwriter and folk rock musician. He was such a talented singer and song writer. His songs were full of true emotions that have touched my heart. Some of his songs inspirations were from his real life experiences. His popular songs included "Take Me Home, Country Roads" (1971), "Leaving on a Jet Plane", "Calypso" (1975), and "Rocky Mountain High" (1973) .

《Take Me Home, Country Roads》was John Denver's signature song. It was written by John Denver, Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert, and initially recorded by John Denver. It was said that inspiration of the song had come while driving to a family reunion of Nivert's relatives in nearby Maryland. To pass the time en route, Danoff had made up a ballad about the little winding en route, Danoff had made up a ballad about the little winding roads they were taking. Later, he changed the story to fit that of an artist friend, who used to write to him about the splendors of the West Virginia countryside. Art is from life, but it is above life.

《Leaving on a Jet Plane》reminded me of John Denver's tragic death on October 12, 1997. The EZ Lite aircraft he was piloting crashed just off the coast of California at Pacific Grove, shortly after taking off from the Monterey Peninsula Airport. Life is fragile sometimes. We just have to cherish what we have. One of my favorite English quotes popped into my mind: "Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is mystery. Today is a gift. That is why we call it the present." Although John Denver has left us, his songs will last forever. He will always be in our hearts.
