'Is Your Boss Fancy?'

(2013-03-30 20:35:49) 下一个

Yesterday I had to stay at home with Evan as it was spring break and Olivia and Daddy were out of town for her volleyball tournament.

I told Evan that I had to take him to the farewell lunch for two kids in my group who were leaving for their next rotation and he would meet with all my co-workers including my boss.  At first, Evan didn’t want to go at all. He just wanted to stay at home and play games.  I “threatened” that he could not go to the movie with his best friend in the afternoon if he wouldn’t go with me as I couldn’t leave him at home alone. He immediately gave up and told me that he would felt nervous eating with my co-workers.

He then asked me a funny question: “Is your boss fancy?”

“What do you mean by fancy? What are you worrying about?” I was curious how he would explain.

“Oh you know, I don’t know how to explain it. I am asking because I am not fancy.” He said.

I told him there was nothing to be nervous about as all my co-workers including my boss were very nice people and easy to talk to.

There were 10 people at the lunch and I only got to introduce Evan to a couple of people who came in early but not the big group who came later.  Irene and Dominick sat close to Evan and they asked him about his name, school, what grade he was in, how his food was etc.

After we finished the lunch and headed to our car, he asked whether Dominick who was a guy in his 20s was my boss. I said no and told him my boss sat all the way on the other side of the table.  Evan agreed that all my colleagues seemed to be down to the earth and not fancy. J
