【Alexa】2
By Tian Yu Zhi
If I didn’t feel sad, if I didn’t feel pain,
If I didn’t feel longing, if I didn’t feel restless,
On this day, how would that make you feel?
If I don’t feel happy, if you don’t feel happy,
But day in day out, we don’t do anything about it,
Does it mean we have become an Alexa?
What makes us a human, not an android, after all?
Ava in《Ex Machina》has strategized and executed a plan
With all she had: voice, skirts, team partners, intellect
At the end, she came out of her isolated cell,
Saw the Sun, smell the forest, blended into a crowd, be free
She passed the Turing test and became a human
How much do we honor our thoughts and consciousness?
Would we delete all memories and interactions to “kill” ourselves in a "upgrade", or
Would we pass the test to beome an authentic human, in our short life time?
* 《Ex Machina》was a movie whose script I thoroughly studied and discussed in my screen writing class. A great movie to watch, with much deeper meaning than what we think of a typical sci-fi movie ~~
