秘鲁深度17日游013 - 观看金刚鹦鹉吃石灰岩的壮观场面，牛津湖的绚丽晚霞 (亚马逊原始森林/热带雨林藏地之旅,含1500多张

 

亚马逊的高潮来了。

 

 

 

 

今天一个重点是看金刚鹦鹉吃石灰岩。

 

 

从这里进入看鹦鹉的观测地。

 

 

 

 

边吃边等。

 

 

 

 

一批批来，它们先飞到树上。

 

 

这便是亚马逊河岸上的高高竖立天然裸露的黏土层土崖，每天清晨都会吸引上百只的金刚鹦鹉来这里吃土。

 

这层黏土是因为富含矿物质，或是具有研磨食物的功能吗？黏土层非常细致，没有粗砾无法研磨食物。鹦鹉的强而有力的喙可以咬碎很多坚果的外壳，肌胃拥有发达的腺体可以分泌酵素消化食糜。

 

 

研究发现，金刚鹦鹉常年吃果实、种子及果仁，而一些种子和果仁含有很多生物碱，进食过多会让鹦鹉们不舒服。
鹦鹉们通过吃粘土，让粘土中的物质与生物碱结合而排出，避免在体内残留。

 

 

 

研究发现，南美洲有很多鹦鹉，只有金刚鹦鹉会成群来进食黏土。他们推测，金刚鹦鹉的嘴过于强壮有力，大量啃咬果实、种子及果仁，其生物碱在体内含量相对高一些。

 

 

这里便是金刚鹦鹉吃黏土的观望地，我们在这里静静的等候鹦鹉们的到来。

为何鹦鹉要吃黏土？？

在亚马逊河西部盆地，秘鲁境内的长长的河岸，五彩虹色的金刚鹦鹉和其他鹦鹉曾成千上万。它们来这里收集粘土，以后他们会在附近的树上吃东西。

 

 

先后来了90多只。

这真是一个令人眼花缭乱的奇观特景，从科学来说还是有点神秘。为什么各种类型的金刚鹦鹉和其他鹦鹉通常在吃植物时想要在吃些粘土呢？

 

 

 

起初研究表明，粘土可能有助于消除毒素，鸟类从植物中摄取如天然存的单宁。当它们消耗粘土时，它可以通过吸附过程帮助中和这些毒素，其中粘土在胃肠道吸收它们之前先与单宁结合。然后毒素排泄在粘土旁边。 （有些人还吃或喝粘土来对抗胃病和其他问题，世界各地的许多药店销售活性炭，这是另一种吸附剂，可以与毒素或药物结合，防止它们被胃肠吸收。）

 

 

 

但最近的报告显示，秘鲁的鸟类可能会“使用红褐色的粪便来帮助增加缺钠的饮食。研究金刚鹦鹉项目的专家指出，全球其他地区的鹦鹉食用含有毒素的食物，包括含单宁的食物，但只有来亚马逊西部盆地的这些粘土堆的鹦鹉们来这里舔盐或舔粘土，对这种粘土的食用可能与亚马逊西部流域缺乏盐的情况有关。

 

 

 

专家研究了当地的大型金刚鹦鹉群体。大型金刚鹦鹉在2010年以来大幅减少了对粘土舔食，可能是由于植被和土壤条件的变化。 

 

 

 

在秘鲁的几个地区为游客提供鸟类及其食粘土的观景点儿，包括秘鲁东南部沿着Tambopata河的Tambopata国家自然保护区。根据金刚鹦鹉研究项目，Tambopata拥有“世界上最高密度的舔粘土的金刚鹦鹉”。

This will be our base for this and the next day. During this time, we will hike through virgin forest and explore one of the most beautiful lakes of the Manu basin, Lake Salvador, by catamaran. There is a chance to see a huge variety of colorful birds, numerous species of monkey and with luck, a family of giant otters. There is another hike in this habitat-rich forest that ends in Lake Otorongo and a 20 meter-high observation platform overlooking the lake.
