Thief nabs couple’s wedding memories

A wedding photographer is pleading for a thief to return a stolen memory card that had irreplaceable photos of a young couple’s wedding.

Chris Percival and his wife Anne were shooting the nuptials of Holly-Anne Wylie and Adam Harvey on Saturday afternoon when some confusion about parking at South of Perth Yacht Club meant the photographic couple’s car had to be parked in a public spot, not in the club’s secure area.

In the 50 or so minutes Mrs Percival spent away from the car photographing the happy couple arrive by boat at the club, a thief broke into the Hyundai iX35 and drove away in it, with tens of thousands of dollars of equipment inside.

Mr Percival said recovering the equipment came second to getting back the images of the happy couple’s “heartfelt moments”.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen our vehicle, or to the crooks themselves, have a heart, get the cards back to us in any way you like, we won’t ask any questions,” he said.

Mr Percival said the stolen cards had about half of the couple’s ceremony and location shots and all the pictures of them getting ready before the wedding.

“Those photos are just irreplaceable,” Mr Percival said. “We can dress them up and take some nice photos of them again ... but weddings are all about the emotion of the day and the way people feel and respond to that and those things you can’t replace.”

Anyone who sees the grey Hyundai, registration 1EIO 816, or has any information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
