Meeting Double Yi's  Family in Pittsburgh

As the first generations immigrating to overseas, your lives seem not as rich as in your hometown. Living in an new place, the most of people don’t have relatives nearby. However, the life can still be filled with diverse colors. You may already feel that the friends can be meant to be relatives. You spend time each other, care each other and help each other. My experience can be an example to share with you.

Recently, we spent a wonderful time with our close friends, Double Yi (couple’s first name are all Yi), at their home in Pittsburgh, US. Back to 2004, we got to know each other in Missouri; while after three years we said goodbye and moved to different states for pursuing our careers. Nobody expected this separation lasted ten years. Actually, three years ago the couple had invited us to visit their home. I didn’t know why I had hesitated for such a long time. This year, I suddenly realized if I constantly worried about something, I would never get the trip done. Thankfully, eventually God brought us together again in Pittsburgh.

Once arriving at their house, a beautiful scene impressed me: a white house situated on the green hill. Just like the pictures I watched in move Legends of The Fall. Even though Double Yi have described their place by email for several times, it was still hard to imagine how marvelous the area was.

Moving in their house, we met their family's five members. Time pasted so fast that their toddler girl already became a pretty teenage. Two new members added in: one was a handsome little boy and another one was a cute pet dog. What a nice family! This is a place called home: a fantastic and charming environment, a courteous and kind couple, two lovely and polite kids, a comfy and warm house, a cute and tame dog, good and delicious foods on the table, surrounded by friendly people they loved.

Before visiting Pittsburgh, I have figured out how the city looked like. It might like a big castle surrounding by huge tall wall. When Double Yi drove us taking a tour around the downtown Pittsburgh, I was shocked by such a tremendous old city, and its rivers and bridges (see attached video and pictures). The details about the city are described in the following paragraphs.

Attached video was taken in downtown Pittsburgh by my husband. Pittsburgh is a city in Pennsylvania, the United States. The city has a population around 300,000 and is the 63rd-largest city in the U.S. [1] However, it ranks the second-largest city in Pennsylvania (Philadelphia is the first one).

According to the reference [1], Pittsburgh locates in western Pennsylvania at the junction of 3 rivers. It is known both as "the Steel City" for it’s more than 300 steel-related businesses and as the "City of Bridges" for its 446 bridges.  The city features 30 skyscrapers, two inclined railways, a pre-revolutionary fortification and the Point State Parkat the confluence of the rivers.

The city developed as a vital link of the Atlantic coast and Midwest, as the mineral-rich Allegheny Mountains made the area coveted byte French and British empires, Virginians, Whiskey Rebels, and Civil War raiders [1].
