I was deeply moved by your story. We wouldn't be the same person today without those teachers who loved us with whole-hearts in the those days!

Thanks for sharing your early life experience with me.
To have a good teacher in elementary or middle school is indeed very important. Looking back, I was lucky to have two middle school teachers who believed in me in the darkest years of the Cultural Revolution in spite of my father's "history problem". My first year in the middle school, my whole class took a long (15 KM) trip to a 革命烈士陵 and some students were scheduled to be sworn in as a young pioneering member. I did not know if I would be one of them. But I was, thanks to these two teachers.

When my (female) math teacher left my school to marry an army soldier in 1973, I had tears in my eyes. In 1974, my father was reassigned work and I left to live with him in another county. My Chinese teacher asked me to go to his dorm, where he presented me with a red notebook. Yes, I could still remember the sad expression in his face till this day.

I guess that I am a lucky man. I love you, my teachers.
