Chief Prosecutor: No crime to drive away Chinese family

Decided not to initiate any investigation against the police

The noise of a hotel in central Stockholm on September 2 has sailed this weekend as a world news.

The Chinese embassy has warned for travel to Sweden, Chinese regime-friendly media pumps out articles about "Swedish police brutality" while tens of thousands of users are engaged in Chinese social media.
"No crime"

On Monday, September 3, the son of the family went to the police's contact center to report the incident as an offense with reference to the fact that the notifier's father was "abducted by force" from the current hotel "so that pain occurred".

On Friday, September 7, the investigation was filed by Chief Prosecutor Mats Ericsson at the Special Prosecutor's Office who handled police targets.

"There was never a preliminary investigation because the assessment was that there was no crime on the part of the police. The police have the right to remove someone from one place to another, and it is an extremely common and standardized police procedure to do so, and in this case, "says Mats Ericsson.

After the three people were taken care of, the police patrol drove the family to the forest cemetery subway station, which is 7 kilometers from the hotel.

"As I know, it is a very common place for Stockholm police when removing someone from the center. It is entirely odramatic, says Mats Ericsson.

"Conducted a malfunction"

The police's incident report, as Aftonbladet noted, reveals that two people from the family should have stayed in a sofa at the hotel and "refused to go" around 01.45. About 25 minutes later, police police took a decision to remove the family. In the same way, tourists dropped to the ground to also start screaming for human rights, according to the incident report, as also depicted in the films published by Aftonbladet.

The son of the family, however, states in his notification that the police outside the hotel used "physical violence" and threw the father, who is said to be in the 65s, in the field, as he also said in interviews with Chinese regime-friendly media.

Chief Prosecutor Mats Ericsson says that the removal is supported by the Thirteenth Paragraph of the Police Act and that it is about public order disruption that the police acted against.

"They acted as disturbing by refusing to leave a place where they were not entitled to be," said chief prosecutor Mats Ericsson.

The hotel manager has previously told Aftonbladet that the family had booked on the wrong day, that the hotel was fully booked and that they tried to help them find another hotel before the event escalated.
