go eagles, 2008, the sky is the limit!

I do not know when I started to watch amercian football. I also do not remember when I became a die hard EAGLES fan. May be because the game combines persistence, perseverance, team work, and strategy. It just happened about 10 year ago. Suddenly, midnight green becomes my favorite color.

There are lots of injuries, lots of hard work, lots of heart breaks in these games. But, each year, when the offensive line is on the field, time stops, only the game exists. My most exciting EAGLES game was when the EAGLES beat the Tampa Bay BUCCANEERS on New Year’s Eve 2000. That night, in a light snow, the EAGLES gave me the best way to celebrate a new year, a sweeping 20 to 3 win against a good team. Even though, that team went on later to win the super bowl, I truely believe that good things do not come easy for us, the Philly football fans.

The Philadelphia EAGLES have never won a super bowl, in fact the last time any Philadelphia sports team win a championship was 1983. The Philadelphia SIXERS (basketball). Over the years, the Philadelphia sports fans cheered tirelessly for the FLYERS, the SIXERS, the PHILLIES and the EAGLES , this passionate sports town had hoped one day to parade down the Broad street for any if not all its sport teams. But, that is yet to come.

Have you ever been to Philadelphia? If you have not, let me tell you, it is a tough town to live in, it is a city not easily for you to fell in love with. However, Philadelphia is a historical town. It has rich history and old traditions, everything a big city can offer. Besides the beautiful streets, small but lovely Chinatown and a world renowned orchestra, it also has tons of warm-hearted sports fans. Although, it is buried between big metropolitan cities like New York and Washington DC, Philadelphia displays its unique charm. Just come to Philadelphia, walk by the church where Sir Ben Franklyn flied his kite, sip coffee in the sidewalk safe, wondering in the city’s numerous museums, you will know, you will love this town as I have come to.

The football season is still young, the EAGLES beat the RAMS last Sunday, that was a good start, no matter how weak that team was, play good football is the key. With all the EAGLES fans of the Delaware valley, let’s hope a good football season. NO, let’s hope the team make a decent try, game after game, THAT will be enough for me.
