Switzerland and Chamonix, France (5) - To Jungfrau

(2017-09-19 19:11:54) 下一个

At 4,158 meters (13,642 ft.), Jungfrau is one of the most distinctive sights of the Swiss Alps, and with the Jungfrau railway that opened in 1912 (Can you believe this?! Especially the railway runs almost entirely within the mountains!), this is also one of the most-visited places in the Alps.

To add some day hiking, we followed Rick Steves book's advice which is taking a train to Wengen, then taking a gondola to Mannlichen, hike from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg, then taking the Jungfrau railway to Jungfraujoch, a saddle between the Mönch and the Jungfrau. Weather was a bit hazy in the morning, but turned out to be beautiful later.

1. Wengen, walking toward the gondola station.

2. Hiking around Mannlichen.

3. Saw lots of cows with different sized bells on the hike.
