This weekend, I received flower from daddy and have been getting a lot of kisses and “I love you, mommy!” "Happy Mother's Day!" from the kids, especially from Olivia.

This morning, while I was watching news in the bed, Olivia woke up and came to our room. She had a mysterious smile on her face and said to me: “Mommy, today is your special day. Do not get up until me and daddy come to get you!” Then she just ran out of the room.

Very soon, I heard some noises coming from the kitchen area downstairs and in about 15 minutes, Olivia and daddy served me breakfast (delicious chocolate waffle and milk) in bed! How sweet!

For this Mother’s day, I received a personal heart shaped card and a heart shaped brownie Olivia baked for me (See picture). The brownie was delicious and I was really impressed by Olivia’s handwriting on the card. She has made such improvement during the past half year that at first I thought it was her teacher’s handwriting.

Evan’s gift was a little plant with a beautiful pink flower he planted for me at the daycare (See picture). I still remember that eager look he had when I picked him up on Friday. He ran to his cubby, took the plant out and handed to me saying: “I made this for you, mommy. It is for Mother's day!”

Needless to say, the gifts and especially the love from my children have made this Mother’s Day weekend very special and I am very happy.

One thing I would like to mention on the side. After Olivia saw Evan’s gift for me, she asked: “Mommy, can I get some money for taking care of Evan’s flower for you?”

“Huh?” although surprised, I immediately realized there must be some deal going on between her and daddy as when she was obsessed with Thomas the tank engine a couple of years ago, we would only buy one for her after she finish ten chores (to make enough money). And I was right.

“Because High School Musical DVD in coming out on May 23rd and daddy said I had to do chores to make enough money to buy it. Taking care of the plant is a chore, right?”
