启示录19中的哈利路亚一词被用在天堂里，在那里有一大群人聚集在宝座前，与上帝同在。上帝的敌人已被推翻，福音已取得胜利。在庆祝胜利的庆典上，整个天堂都在赞美，这是所有圣徒共同吟唱的感恩之歌。赞美光荣而源源不断的原因是上帝的公义战胜了他的敌人(启示录19:1-3)，他的主权(第4-6节)以及他与他的子民永恒合一(第7节)。赞美和敬拜源源不断的声音是压倒性的，以至于使徒约翰只能将它描述为"好像群众的声音，众水的声音，大雷的声音"(第6节)。在新郎(基督)和新娘(教会)的婚礼上，上帝的子民如此欢欣鼓舞，以至于哈利路亚是唯一一个宏大的词语足以表述它。天上的大合唱汉德尔版本，音乐如此辉煌，人们高唱着"哈利路亚！因为主我们的神，全能者作王了。"

我们这里要讲述的是流行歌曲中脍炙人口的那首《Hallelujah》。

加拿大创作歌手Leonard Cohen于1984年发行的专辑《Various Positions》其中一首歌名为《哈利路亚》，这首歌起初只收获了有限的成功，直至1991年由Jeff Buckley和John Cale翻唱之后，开始广泛流行。《Hallelujah》先后被大约200名艺人用各种语言进行表演。到2008年，全球已经卖出超过500万份它的CD拷贝。BBC电台制作了以此为主题的纪录片，并在众多电影和电视作品中作为原声音乐。Alan Light以此为主题写作了《The Holy or The Broken: Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckly & the Unlikely Ascent of ‘Hallelujah’》(2012)。纽约时报评论员Janet Maslin赞扬了这本书和歌曲，文中写到：“科恩花费了几年的时间苦心创作《Hallelujah》……他写了几乎80个版本的主歌，然后慢慢修剪成最终的歌曲，并收录在1984年的专辑《Various Positions》。他的厂牌，CBS Record，一开始拒绝发行《Various Positions》，他们没有意识到这首歌会成为美国音乐历史上最萦绕心头最常被改编最多变的歌曲之一。（维基百科）

那么让我们来听听Leonard Cohen本人演唱的这首《Hallelujah》吧，当饱经沧桑的老人用颤抖而低沉的嗓音声声呼唤着Hallelujah，Hallelujah，Hallelujah.....一种怆然涕下的感情油然而生。

歌声中有对信仰的疑惑，有对爱的失望，对人生的质疑，对命运的叹息。当一切都已经过去，当一切都已无法改变，卑微的人类无论经历了什么，无论结局如何，到最后，人们只能喊出一声一声破碎而心痛的“赞美上帝，赞美上帝，赞美上帝。”

Leonard Cohen不但是歌手也是一位诗人和小说家， 他的歌词富于哲理性和画面感，这首《Hallelujah》并不像一首宗教歌曲，叙述中满是矛盾的困惑的苦恼不堪的情绪，反反复复的“Hallelujah，Hallelujah...." 是人类向上帝伸出的手臂，渴求着，询问着，彷徨着，跪拜着，卑微而又感人。

在众多的翻唱中，大多数歌手或是合唱团都着力演绎出甜蜜温柔，或是华丽雄壮的氛围，但不得不说这样的翻唱没能表现出原版歌词中苦涩和矛盾的蕴义，过分用力地歌唱着Hallelujah反而让赞美显得直白有余而回味乏力了。

Bon Jovi的版本在维系个人风格的基础上又演绎出了浪子回头金不换的感觉。

反反复复地听了很多版本的《Hallelujah》，心中一直有一个疑问：当我们高唱哈里路亚，我们到底在赞美上帝什么呢？
