2015 First Run

The trip verified a few things. First, running helps jet lag
recovery. I found out the 2nd day back when the jet lag was
in full swing. I ran a 9-miler and got up early the next
day. The bad thing was that the run was painful and one run
wouldn't fix it for good. Second, my 1.5-yr
health-engineering works wonders. We all contracted a virus
2 days before leaving China and I recovered before landing
in SFO. Last, my diet is part of a life-style change--I
couldn't enjoy dining out every day and delicious foods in
fancy restaurants lost charm toward the end of the week. I
craved for my home-made kimchi and porridge, which were
actually the only food I had for 2 days back in the US. I
didn't have any difficulty staying away from airline (UA)
food during the 25-hr round-trip.

Feeling stronger every day for the first week and with my
weight dropping to new lows, I was eager to get back on the
trail. This morning, I planned to run to the hills for a HM.
The first 5 miles were under 9:00 and felt great but the
ITBS caught up at mile 4. This time, it didn't relent as I
ran and I could barely walk after drinking at a water
fountain. I decided not to fight it and walked another 4
miles back.

Overall, I ran&walked 9.6 miles at a pace of 11:08.
