Reasonable to include psychological and social assessments of patient as part of diabetes management

Psychosocial screening and follow-up may include:

   • Attitudes about diabetes

   • Expectations for medical management and outcomes

   • Mood

   • Quality of life

   • Financial, social, emotional resources

   • Psychiatric history

Screen on routine basis for depression and diabetes-related distress, anxiety, eating disorders, and

cognitive impairment
