REFRAMING THE PAST

Of all the emotions, the most debilitating is anger.

EXERCISE:

Describe an emotional incident from your past that resulted in your getting angry about something that concerned money and at least one other person. (from your perspective at the time):

You drag your past relationship into your current and future relationships.

EXERCISE:

For the emotional incident in the previous exercise, describe what the other person’s point of view might have been (write in first person, use the word “I”):

When we’re angry, it’s usually about “not getting what we want.”

We often retaliate by not giving the person we’re angry with what they want --- meanwhile we go down the drain with them.

People who have to be right are usually the most miserable.

Your anger and resentment gets stuck in the cells of your body, not theirs, and makes you sick, not them.

Holding on to anger and resentment is like drinking poison and expecting someone else to die.” --- Unknown

Research shows that 47% of all cancer is related to unresolved anger.

Everyone always does the best they can at the time.

You don’t necessarily forget, but you do necessarily forgive.
