Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Yellowstone National Park:

The thermus aquaticus bacteria were first discovered in Yellowstone National Park. Heat-stable enzyme within the bacteria help organisms live in extremely hot temperatures. The amazing colors that ring the scalding hot springs and geothermal pools are thanks to chemicals the bacteria emit to protect them from the heat.

Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park:

Black Pool, West Thumb Geyser Basin, Yellowstone National Park.
Black Pool's temperature became extremely hot in the past years and killed original surviving organisms. Very little organisms can live under such harsh conditions. As a result, the water looks extremely clear, and has a beautiful, deep-blue color.

The hills are alive, with the sound of bison!
