CONTRAST and COMPARE

Amy was teaching me CONTRAST and COMPARE. She told me that contrast is difference; compare is the same. T told her that compare is a verb. She would use comparable to mean similar. However, she insist on using contrast and compare. She used these two words to compare that who can skate better between us. She told me that "When we skate backward, we compare (are comparable). When we skate forward, we are contrast, I skate faster than you" She is  five and an kindergardener. She started to make sentences. Is this funny?
